We are bout 30-40 minutes away from Ft. Stewart. 1LT Private RallyPoint Member Sat, 27 Apr 2019 13:00:19 -0400 2019-04-27T13:00:19-04:00 Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 27 at 2019 11:12 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/for-those-of-you-who-have-been-to-fort-stewart-ga-how-is-it-unit-wise-area-things-for-kids-nursing-schools?n=4585898&urlhash=4585898 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Fort Stewart offers a lot for families, they’re always having events on and as well as off post for families. Fort Stewart also is close to several beaches and taking a trip to downtown Savannah with the family always was nice. Fort Stewart is also two hours away from Jacksonville. You should definitely look at taking a trip to the Jacksonville Zoo. The city of Hinesville has been growing and offers many eating establishments and several places to shop such as TJ Max, Dicks Sporting goods. You also have the city of Pooler which has a Tanger Outlet and a pretty nice movie theater. As for the units I really can’t speak on, given that I was apart of a tenant unit. If there is a Nursing program it would be in Savanah or at least in that direction, 25+ miles. As for the units, 3ID has a long and storied history, the units operate with great pride. The weather is nice, housing mostly decent, a lot is fairly new. The schools are as good as your child, the parents and the Teachers communicate. There are trouble areas you need to do some of your own research. The base has good facilities for children as well. There are a lot of outdoor activities and beaches near by. Thank you for your service. You have beaches stretching from Charleston to Jacksonville. Depending on what you and your family like to do will dictate how far you have to drive. You have hunting and fishing in the state of Georgia. If you want to take a cruise you can board a ship in Charleston or Jacksonville. The local area is still growing. Because of the tempo people call it &quot;Riding the Marne Express.&quot; I have an app on my phone called, &quot;Spot Crime&quot; and I use that to assist me in finding a place to live. I type in the address and will show me what has happened in the area. The news paper or the will have activities for you and the family with some of them being free of charge. I lived off of Airport Road but if I had it to do all over again I would move to Richmond Hill because it rests between Savannah and Hinesville. You have Charleston(2hr 30min to downtown), Bluffton, Hilton Head, Savannah, Tybee Island, St. Simon&#39;s, Jekyll Island, Brunswick, St. Mary, and Jacksonville(2hrs to downtown). With the warm weather these cities will have festivals and other activities for families to enjoy. I drove to Charleston and Savannah when I wanted seafood for dinner. Some of the restaurants in Charleston have their own boat. Some units sponsor the local schools as a way to give back. I had Soldiers to serve as tutors and assist with school festivals and programs.
