For those with PTSD, do civilians blame you for having PTSD?

There are some civilians blaming me for having PTSD or having symptoms, like its a choice or its my fault. This really pisses me off how shortsighted, acerbic, and stupid some folks can be.

There are indeed those who blame the veteran for having PTSD. I have tried to explain to them (civ's) that it is in NO WAY the fault of the veteran. Do they think for one moment that we (vet) wanted to do or see the things we did? We went where and did what we were told. Those things acted different on everyone of us. Unfortunately, some ,people drive it into the vet that it is their fault, and consequently these are some of the reasons there is a greatly increased number of suicides / alcohol incidents among those vets.

There's a negative stigma on soldiers already. Too many civilians tend to ask the wrong questions. This is just one of many videos where they (civilians) are clueless and more often than not, ignorant.

Unfortunately more often than not most civilians are not aware of really what PTSD is .
