Force 2025 and Beyond: How the Army Is Preparing for Its Future

I remember Division 86... Airland Battle... and now have the latest. Are our priorities and focus correct?

In May, the Army released its updated Army Vision, Strategic Advantage in a Complex World, to be the intellectual foundation for its efforts to prevent conflict, shape security environments, and win wars. That followed the October release of the new Army Operating Concept, Win in a Complex World, which discusses how warfighting capabilities combine to fulfill larger missions — that is, how future Army forces, as part of joint, interorganizational, and multinational efforts, will operate to accomplish campaign objectives and protect U.S. national interests. Force 2025 and Beyond, in turn, shapes the comprehensive effort necessary to achieve the capabilities envisioned in the Army Operating Concept.

While our force has always prepared for the last war in training for the next war I think we can see some trends developing for the next battle field.
1. We will be a more digitalized society, this could be a threat. We may need to think more along the lines of analog back up for every major system. From hacking to EMP I think it would be in our best interest to have a way to fight with our main systems digitally compromised without loosing capability.
2. Everyone in the world has seen how drawing out our fighting forces in protracted guerilla warfare deteriorates public support and causes political pressure to subdue us long before the American Warfighter is done fighting. We need to set strict goals in every engagement, and disengage when those goals are met.
3. We need to stop nation building. We need to leave their land for them to rebuild. There should be a punishment for a society that engages us to the point of military action.
