Too many have allowed tradition and regulations to fall to the wayside and this today is why young service members do some of the things they do. If we start enforcing the standards again as they should be, in time the tide will turn and we can return to a level of respect and credibility we can be proud of.&nbsp;<div><br></div><div>It starts at the top though. We need to lead from the front and perform in use manner that we want our Soldiers to perform in. My old commander constantly echoed this, don't talk about it, be about it.</div> SFC Private RallyPoint Member Fri, 14 Mar 2014 18:55:38 -0400 2014-03-14 18:55:38 -0400 Response by SGT Kevin Smith made Mar 15 at 2014 6:34 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/fort-carson-announced-they-will-stop-vehicles-during-retreat?n=76619&urlhash=76619

When I was stationed there 98-01, they always did stop traffic in the morning and evening. when did they stop? MAJ Bryan Zeski Sat, 15 Mar 2014 18:55:36 -0400 2014-03-15 18:55:36 -0400 Response by CSM Christopher Irwin made Mar 16 at 2014 2:36 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/fort-carson-announced-they-will-stop-vehicles-during-retreat?n=76775&urlhash=76775

There should be no opinion in this matter...only strict adherence to the policy. It's a sad state of Army-affairs that we have to resort to this policy (if not already in place) to get Soldiers to do the right thing. I, like a few other posters wasn't aware they stopped this to begin with. I would go so far as to put those caught NOT stopping their cars on duty being the road guards that stop traffic for a month.
CSM Christopher Irwin Sun, 16 Mar 2014 02:36:53 -0400 2014-03-16 02:36:53 -0400 Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 17 at 2014 7:05 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/fort-carson-announced-they-will-stop-vehicles-during-retreat?n=77365&urlhash=77365

Sadly this is the result of the Army recruiting heavily during wartime and letting pretty much anything with a heartbeat join. They couldn't find a job on the outside, or couldn't hold one and the Army said "sure you can join". Now they wear the uniform like their back on the block and when they are off duty they they act like fools.
I don't agree with being easy on these soldiers. I say Dishonorable Discharge and get rid of them. That way when they go to apply for a job or benefits that DD will be there. They shouldn't be on the same level as those that served with honor.

Now you just wait, there will be someone who fights this. Some barracks lawyer or family member that says it's unconstitutional.
SFC Private RallyPoint Member Mon, 17 Mar 2014 07:05:46 -0400 2014-03-17 07:05:46 -0400 Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 17 at 2014 11:27 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/fort-carson-announced-they-will-stop-vehicles-during-retreat?n=77463&urlhash=77463

I surprised it took this long, I'm used to it.
