One dead, two hurt as vehicle tries to ram U.S. spy agency gates

Two people tried to run their vehicle through the National Security Agency's gates near Washington on Monday before guards at the spy agency fatally shot one of them, said officials, who added there was no evidence of a link to terrorism.

These things are tragic. I wonder what they were trying to accomplish?

It looks like the shooting was one-sided; the bad guys just rammed their car into the gate.

According the OP link... the dead and wounded were in fact the assailants, perpetrators, what have you. Good. As they should be, if they tried to harm a service member.

That is from your article... and there are others making it sound as if "at least ONE dead, others wounded" which could just the news folk doing what they do.
I think we need to wait and see as developments come out.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling we are going to see more and more of this in the future. With ISIS making pleas for "lone wolf" attacks on our soil, bases make an obvious, though be it bad choice for targets.

SFC Private RallyPoint Member helicopters flying around, 100% accountabilty, and a lot of uncertainty from what happened this morning. For first time in a while I ate at the DFAC because I didn't want to take the chance to eat off campus and then won't be able to get in again. 2 or 3 weeks ago we had another incident here, I just hope it doesn't get usual here.

This is sad. But is anyone really surprised anymore about these sort of things? Maybe the only thing that surprises me is that this didn't happen sooner with the NSA. Right or wrong their actions have made them a lightning rod and symbol of many things wrong with the federal government for A LOT of people.

I'm glad the guards managed to contain the threat, and the only injuries were to them perpetrators of the attack. I just... I don't know, it just doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Hopefully we, as a nation, finally find some mutual trust to minimize the incidents like this one.

From what I read the we're in stolen vehicle and dressed as women, trying to gain entrence. Other than that seems to be a developing story.

The NSA campus (which is fenced off from Ft. Meade proper) has it's own police force separate from the Ft. Meade garrison police force. The Vehicle Control Point (VCP) the two guys (dressed as women) tried to enter is off an exit ramp where there is no turnaround and you are committed into going thru it. Most people who make that mistake (and it happens a lot) are allowed to make a u-turn and egress the campus; some are detained and their cars searched. Driving a stolen vehicle they probably panicked because a car w/ two dudes dressed like women was definitely gonna get searched and the cops will herd you over to a search area w/ a K-9 unit waiting. That's why they probably tried to ram their way out. These were two guys who just stole a 60 year old man's truck and wallet after partying w/ him all night. One officer was injured when they rammed his SUV.

There was no madness. A couple of guys went on an all night bender, stole a car, and made a wrong turn off of the highway. The exit they took went to the gate, and there's no opportunity to turn around. Since they were drunk and high and in a stolen car, they panicked when they saw the gate guards (with badges and automatic weapons) and tried to haul ass through the gate. The only shooting came from one of the guards AFTER they had already run into another guard. It was an isolated incident.

As long as discrimination and unequal treatment continues, hatred can never end in the military. A soldier was constantly belittled by his PL. One day, in formation, this abused soldier shot his PL in the foot. The PL was admitted to Kripler Army Medical Center and the Soldier claimed it was an accident; however, following an investigation the Soldier was found to have a long time hatred for his PL, since the PL started singling him out and belittling him. The investigator concluded both PL and Soldier were responsible for the mishap.

It is tough to answer your question. Because, the perps are not known. It was suggested they are Transgendered as they wore female clothes.
If I could see the dead perps and his friends, plus the clothes, I would have an a chance to answer. But, it is not your fault the MSM can not post much info.
Just a name might help me profile their dumb arses.
