Fox News reports Army Schools will close and soldiers be sent home at their own expense. Has this impacted you directly?

The Soldiers are already at the school and being paid, and their travel expenses accounted for.
This doesn't pass the smell test.
What is more likely is that Soldiers on TDY at a school would have to stay there until the budget is fixed.
Troops will still get chow.

I have never heard of that before, when it happened in the late 70's we did field problems and worked and schools continued I was in PNCOC/CA at the time. I highly doubt that schools will close or they will send troops home as it is not cost effective and the money for these classes has already been spent at the beginning of the fiscal year (Oct 2017). I think Fox news needs to do more research. The military doesn't screech to a halt over a short term issue. Hell even when we had any funds for ammo or transportation we still went to the field in trucks or jumped out of cattle cars and went bang bang and threw pine cone grenades at each other.

One of the NCOs in my command is supposed to fly out today for ALC starting next week. Looks like that's not happening. If STEP wasn't bad enough, if this keeps up, it'll push his first look for E7 another full year. (Points in his MOS are 14).

Happened to me in 2013. School stalled for a couple days, but we all were sent home on 4 October.

Admittedly, that was also the “start of the fiscal year” whammy as well, so there were no funds available.
