Fresh out of AIT, steps/tips on dropping a flight medic packet? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/fresh-out-of-ait-steps-tips-on-dropping-a-flight-medic-packet

Fresh out of AIT as a 68W and my main interest above all is the flight medic program. I was wondering if anyone has any tips or words of wisdom in trying to drop a packet for it.

My unit is doing an NTC rotation in April, then not long after a rotation overseas. Is there anything I could do, even overseas, that could benefit my chances in getting selected once I drop a packet? Thanks for anyone’s time. You can find the information and requirements on the flight medic school website. Take that time to hone your skills and take classes to prep you. If you can get your paramedic license it will help you a lot. Get familiar with A&P, pharmacology etc. Its a ton of info thrown at you very fast. Kinda like drinking water from a fire hose! Also don’t neglect your general army training; go to boards, get your P status. Depending on your duty station it could take 6 months to get everything approved Rucker is backed up appointments get booked up on JBLM and Carson for sure a month in advance and that is the most time consuming process. If you message me offline I can forward you the entire packet you will need to create. One done it gets submitted to HRC and they make the final decision as others have said you must be 12 months TOS prior to submission of the packet before HRC will even consider you. Once you have a class date redo your flight physical about 3 to 6 months prior to shipping because you must maintain a valid flight physical during the course or you will be dropped.

On an education note study/take a comprehensive A&P course prior to shipping. If you study A&P 1 and 2 prior to shipping you will be over the largest hurdle. It's a fast program and you cant let up for a second but its doable SSG Private RallyPoint Member Wed, 13 Mar 2019 15:08:43 -0400 2019-03-13T15:08:43-04:00 Response by CW2 Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 13 at 2019 3:26 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/fresh-out-of-ait-steps-tips-on-dropping-a-flight-medic-packet?n=4445779&urlhash=4445779

Head to your SORB office on Hood, talk to the 160th SOAR recruiter, he can get you the info to submit your packet, attend Green Platoon, SOCM, and then F2 school. They get people straight from AIT sometimes and so on. Be ready to prove you know your stuff though. Get the experience from the ground. It helps because you understand what the line medic is going through. It is the reasoning behind the one year as a regular medic prior to dropping a packet. Like the others are saying get your flight physical complete because one of the worse things is getting your hopes up and not getting an up-slip. To drop a packet you will need a few things, when you get to the point you are ready to submit a packet find the course in ATRRS and fill out a 4187 enclosing all required documentation such as EMT card, BLS, APFT card within 90 days of submission, and EMS questionnaire you can obtain from your MSTC, you did it the day of in-processing here. You can also contact the F2 branch manager via email or phone if you go onto the HRC homepage clicking Enlisted and looking for branch managers. All the people we have her work with the schoolhouse we can contact HRC and discuss things with them but ultimately slotting goes through the branch manager at HRC. Also if you do not already have your security clearance get with your S-2 and get that ball rolling. Any more questions you have just PM me.
