https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/frustrated-applying-online-post-your-resume-fill-out-12-boling?published=u

So there you are you have crafted the perfect resume which captures all relevant points of your professional life in 2 pages. Seriously it took you days of countless revisions and bugging friends and peers for feed back. So you reach the point where you past your clear and concise piece of art... then the website ask you to fill out an application full of open ended questions and erroneous data. To add insult to injury you are asked to post a cover letter... then you repeat you contact info on yet another page which seemingly looks familiar to the first page you did after post your resume. Finally, the straw that breaks the camels back, is you are asked to cut and past your resume into block.

Occasionally, you are asked if you would prefer to use your LinkedIn profile... but once you do, the formatting does synch up to the application. Then it is delete, delete, delete, and delete.. then enter, enter, space, and space. At some point the above image applies.

Which leads to the following questions:

-How many hours should it take to complete a job hunt?

-Does the web designer ever talk to HR?

-Does HR ever test the application process?

Please let me know what you think.

More to follow in my next post "Are HR departments just beavers on computers relying on word searches or is it just a lottery?"

Absolutely!

I have given up on these kinds of applications. Including trying to apply at UnitedHealth Group, one of RallyPoint's sponsors. The reason? The application is crazy!? They want cities, states, salaries, supervisor names, and yep, it's 25 pages long, and a lot of times, it doesn't work properly.

Then, you never hear anything.

I have abandoned several applications for being too intrusive at the get go. Taleo is evil.
