Frustrated with politicians...

I just recently saw a "Veterans Party for America" on Facebook and am curious as to what all of you think about this. I believe this nation needs a change because DC is in bad shape. I know this may be a pipe dream but I am ready for a change.

It sickens me that tax breaks for illegal immigrants children is a deal breaker to fix the pension cuts for veterans. I feel like we are constantly being looked over as a priority...

The only true requisites that I know to become a US Senator
are listed in The Constitution.

1. be a US citizen for at least nine
years when elected to the Senate.

2. be at least 30 years of age.

3. be a resident of the state that the
Senator represents.

I do not
see the legislative branch amending The Constitution to include “be a veteran”
as a 4th requisite. Bear with
us, do not lose hope, and keep doing your job to the best of your knowledge and
skills and you’ll be that change you want to see.

I know. It's like as if we are living in "Bizzaro World".

Well, the mid term elections are this year; it's time to rally around the candidates who are in it to serve the American People, including the veterans and service members who had and are defending this nation.

I understand your frustration. I would love to see a streamlined immigration
policy but only after an iron gates gets put onto our southern border. It is my feeling that if you’re illegal you
shouldn’t get food stamps, driver’s licenses, and tuition waiver or instate
tuition fees but I also feel that voting should be validated with an ID like
you need to sign up for healthcare, or sign out a library book. Between the open door at the border and
assistance they receive it’s just so much better to be illegal in America than
to live in Mexico.

As long as the status quo is there, things will never change when someone new gets in, if they don't fall in line with the seniors that are in control, they get pushed out by the next election.

As Jefferson said, the tree needs some serious shaking to clear things out.

No, I do not think that should become a new prerequisite. That would create the same problem we have now in a different manner. At the moment, we have a Congress made up largely of attorneys. This causes a lot of their problems. A Congress made up entirely of veterans would have their own set of issues. What we really need is a representative body made up of individuals from a wide variety of careers and backgrounds.

I fear that I will live to see our nation fall. We can not continue to grow our debt at the rate it has and until we stop trying to fix all of society's problems by throwing money at people and programs we will never change anything. The only way to fix any of this is by cutting government spending in the current budget year because a future congress is not bound by today's decisions. The Veterans in government are just as big of spenders as those who have never served.

Yes it puzzles me why our government has unfortunately for so long not treated the Veterans with the respect we deserve. Whatever we get we have to struggle and fight for it. While
some of the other special interest groups receive handouts. It's not right!
