About General Sullivan:

General Sullivan retired from the Army on July 31, 1995, after more than 36 years of active service. He culminated his uniformed service as the 32nd Chief of Staff—the Army’s senior general officer—and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

General Gordon R. Sullivan currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of the Campaign for the National Museum of the United States Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, where construction is currently underway. A tireless advocate for Soldiers and their families, the Museum project remains consistent with General Sullivan’s priorities—to recognize the contributions of over 30 million American men women who have served in our Army.

General Sullivan retired from the Army on July 31, 1995, after more than 36 years of active service. He culminated his uniformed service as the 32nd Chief of Staff—the Army’s senior general officer—and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

From 1998 until this year, General Sullivan was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Association of the United States Army, also headquartered in Arlington, where he oversaw the transformation of the association into a dynamic, member-based organization that continues to represent Soldiers, Army families, and the defense industry.

In addition to his numerous military awards and decorations, he is also the recipient of the AUSA 2016 George Catlett Marshall Award for selfless service to the United States of America, the West Point Association of Graduates’ Sylvanus Thayer Award and a member of the Sergeants Major Academy’s Hall of Honor.

Thank you for all you have done and for you outstanding service to our great nation. What kind of projects will the museum host? Are there things that the veteran community can do? If someone wanted to be apart of the staff what would they need to do? Thank you for your time and service.

Given your knowledge of the Army and the changes it has been put through, Please give your opinion of the most recent changes to the Army. Do you feel that they are warranted or do you feel as I am many others do that the Army and the Military as a whole have been used by politicians as a laboratory for Social Experimentation, to the detriment of readiness.

GEN Gordon Sullivan Thank you for being here on RallyPoint to answer questions Sir. It is a real honor. You spoke at my graduating class of 2002 at the Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, PA following the attacks of 9/11 and there wasn't a dry eye in the crowd that day when you awarded the honorary graduation certificate to the wife and children of Col. Canfield D. Boone, 53, 2002, 2001 - honorary graduate and posthumously promoted to colonel.

What has been your most rewarding job or exeprience since your retriement from the Army?
