So i hurt my arm during ait and being afraid of getting recycled I decided not to get it checked out and that i would do my pt tests. I thought since i passed the first one i can pass the second one. Long story short i am being chaptered. Will i be able to reenlist if it goes through? I have completed my ait training and have been nothing but a upstanding soldier, would that affect the kimd of discharge or is my future boned

1. How could you complete your AIT with out passing the AFPT? 2. After you admitted being injured- did they have you see the medics? 3. How many times did you try a remedial AFPT? 4. Long story short your story stinks. 5, It will depend on the type chapter and re code as to whether or not you can try again.

SFC (Join to see) I hope I can clarify, SFC. The basic training apft remain the same. AIT you do a diag when you arrive and then your record at the discretion of your PLT Sgt/ Drill sgt. Because of the amount of people going through a lot of the time AIT students don't get their record apft until later in their course or even after they graduate from the school, but they dont get their orders cut until they pass. However, if someone fails their apft they do a retest. If the retest is failed the chapter process starts, but they still take a apft every week until they pass or their chapter process is completed. If they pass before they get chaptered the paperwork is pulled and they get their orders to ocs to their duty station. I hope this clears up some confusion.

PFC (Join to see) - Maybe it depends on the soldier's AIT also. I'm sure each school house could have their own way since the length of each AIT differs.

100%, SFC (Join to see). My ait was long and run separate from the school house itself so they were on two separate timelines.

Separation for APFT falls under Chapter 13 and will receive an Honorable discharge. By regulation, the SM is supposed to receive two for record APFTs 30 days apart, not weekly. Maybe AIT does something different.

How are you getting chaptered for failing the second one? Didn't you get a retest option? Did you fail that one?

I failed the first APFT in AIT because I sucked at situps. My retest was graduation morning...I passed. I have heard of people who failed the last one in basic and got to retest but didn't get to walk since it was after graduation.

Let's see what some of these ncos have to say. CSM Charles Hayden SSG(P) James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL

I hope your injury is documented as part of your discharge. What does the medical board say about your injury?

PVT (Join to see) Welcome to the crowd, many of us have not reported injuries, only to regret it later!

Best wishes.
