I watched a young troop blast a homeless man, who wasn’t panhandling for the wear of a military uniform. We made threats of harm to this individual several times. Stolen valor is absolutely one of the lowest forms of scumbaggery on the human shit bag scale. Here is where the story turns. This homeless guy is in fact a vet. He was an MOS that no longer exists in the early 90s. Of course young studs iPhone can’t find the MOS, so instantly he goes to stolen valor. I get involved show my card and tell this young specialist that he is wrong on several levels. The first being the homeless guys MOS not being real. Second I reminded him of his oath to uphold and defend the Constitution and Bill of Rights ‘but the real bitch is for all his screaming and the ( I’ve lost brothers line) come to find out the specialist has never deployed to anywhere. What are your opinion on this?

Who gives a damn if a homeless guy is wearing a uniform? I'd give him several of my old field jackets if he needed them. Was he trying to profit from wearing the uniform and I don't mean a free meal because he was hungry. As you said, he wasn't panhandling.

Matthew 25:40 - "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

There is no valor or honor in harassing those less fortunate.

SP5 Howard Moore - even though it is not classified as service connected, was it really a service connection that got classified incorrectly, it took me since 1989 to get a service connection but after years of trying and mountains of paperwork I finally got part of the service connection. If you have a service connection keep trying!

SP5 Howard Moore - Fully agree Sp5! By holding a sign that says "Vet, needs help" Civilians may be thinking that the VA does not help. Far from the truth. And just to clarify, I do agree with Sgt Reynolds.

I wore ear plugs religiously even under my CVC helmet or ear muffs tanks just make a ton of noise but then so did my other civilian occupations even with foam plug and ear muffs I still have Tinnitus.

I helped a lady and her three kids stranded on the road some years ago near Ft Leonard Wood. Her husband was in Afghanistan. Four months later he stopped by where I worked and dropped off a brand new issue field jacket. I got a liner on Amazon, and I wear it often in the woods. No patches. I've never thought twice about it.

I certainly wouldn’t consider wearing a field jacket as stolen valor. Stolen Valor goes beyond just wearing camouflage utilities. Its passing yourself off as having served in the military to obtain services or money from others that believe the lie you’re spreading about yourself. Walking around wearing camouflage pants and shirt in itself isn’t stolen valor. However, if you’re wearing that as part of your paid official duties while NOT in the military, you can easily be confused as though you are in the military. And that I have a problem with. If you’re retired and simply enjoy wearing your uniform, I say...GO FOR IT. YOU CERTAINLY EARNED THAT RIGHT. WEAR IT 24/7/365 IF YOU WANT. I wear my Uniform for Veterans Day. And I’ve thought about wearing it on Memorial Day as well, in respect and honor of our lost military heroes.

Jeffery your right as you can find field jackets every where ebay, amazon and surplus stores and all the uniforms. but it's when they wear class A's with all the medals in the world on them and claiming they were awarded all the medals. stolen valor they should all be tossed in jail for doing that regardless if they profited from it or not. i ran into a guy at the dialysis center where my wife was going. she told me about some guy there wear a Stetson with a Star on it. well as i waited for my wife one day that guy came out. so i got out of my truck and walked over to talk to him thinking he was prior service. well as i talked to him he told me he was wearing it to honor his father who had passed away. we after that the guy quit wearing it. and i was going to check the last name to see if his father was a one Star. but after he quit wearing it i didn't bother.
