Given the current political drama, how likely are you to encourage others (son, daughter, etc.) to serve in the Military?

SFC Stephen King great read and share, I will always encourage my kids to join. My son is joining after high school next year! I am glad to have influenced him no matter what's going on in the world.

I feel the political rhetoric has little to do with me. I have served under 5 presidents and no matter the fervor in the political realm- the only time it really affected me was Reagan rebuilding what the previous administrations decimated and Obama pulling us from Iraq. I don't count Bush and Desert Storm and the conflicts that followed because we were going to be there regardless of who was in the driver's seat. That being said- I would encourage my kids if they were so inclined and I did. My son chose not to join and my step kids saw their father and myself deployed and gone a lot and have also chosen not to join.

If my daughters wish to join the Service....who am I to question? If they raise their arm for that Oath....I will stand PROUDLY next to them as they do it.

Just as likely as I would be at any other time. Service exists independently of political leadership. Even in light of recent changes (Mabusizing), the Navy is still an honorable spot to land for any young person looking to gain experience and see things they probably wouldn't see in the confines of their hometown.

the military has many opportunities, mechanics (wheeled, track, aircraft), IT tech training, the list goes on but the best part you are paid while learning and training, and as you continue on you learn leadership, sure there are civi schools that will do the same but you will have to pay for it, in the military yes you might be put in harms way, I wish I had someone help me decide my career path, so as a parent I would deffinately guide my children in their decision to join if they wanted to

Likely I will. I won't lie to them about it. It can be dangerous, it's not always fun, sometimes it's disappointing. That being said I've learned a lot about myself, what I am capable of, and what I can do. I still have more to learn and it does have its fun exciting moments that make it worth it.

Still likely. Though I've got about 4 more elections before they're of age, I do intend to groom them for military service so if they decide to join they'll be in the top percentage performance wise.
