MAJ David Vermillion, considering that she'll succeed Susan Rice (Rosemary DiCarlo is acting), who is arguably one of the worst appointments in recent U.S. history, Nikki Haley's effectiveness, in my opinion, could be measured with a micrometer, and still easily surpass that of Susan Rice.
As an aside, how anyone could perform as abysmally as Susan Rice did, yet still be appointed National Security Advisor is simply beyond comprehension.

Not sure about her lack of experience, but her lack of ability to pull her upper and lower teeth apart while talking might be a show stopper. You've all seen it, but you haven't noticed. Watch her talk. It's as though she's on a motorcycle with no face mask and she's concerned about a bug flying into her throat. You'll notice it now, I bet. I got no comment about her politics, because I really am fed up with that shit.

I'm sure she will be Challenged but having come from a Hindu Culture and being elected a Republican Governor gives her a Leg Up on a lot of Contenders. That already demonstrates a certain skill at mixing cultures. She is No Favorite of Mine but She has already demonstrated a Certain Skill that might be necessary is such a Job.

The UN ambassador imho is only a ceremonial mouthpiece and naturally has no more power or authority than any other political appointee. As long as she looks good in the shower and presents the administration's views on many subjects, she will work out. Don't look to her for any original thinking or independent initiatives.

Taking over a job you know nothing about is simplicity itself... and is easier then if you're an "expert"
Listen to the boss's goals, get him to tell you HIS priorities, his needs and then his want list..Everything you do in the job should be based on these guiding ideals. Study the regulatory guidence, the laws, the directives...that tell you what MUST be done as part of your duties .. reports, actions, lists made, mandatory meetings or work groups.., checked, ect.
Then clear the desk, start with a fresh computer that has nothing but essentials and all previous contact info..
Focus on accomplishing the regulatory tasks, while forming a plan on the boss's priorities. Anything truly important you were supposed to have done, do, call or write about will show itself quickly when the anticipated receiver has not received the "thing" ..if this newly discovered thing aligns itself with required tasks or the boss's priorities, then address it, if not, ignore it.

Nikki Haley is unqualified to be UN ambassador. She has no international experience, and has governed a state with no major international cities (such as New York or Los Angeles). The world already looks at the US as a joke after debacles like the unjustified invasion of Iraq, and our President-Elect's refusal to accept the reality of climate change. Appointing an unqualified, inexperienced UN ambassador is NOT what we need to be doing at this stage.
