Don't worry about the politics of an international incident. Those folks need to concern themselves with defending themselves; and neutralizing the threat. When they get home safely their families will get lawyers, and write to their representatives. I know if one of those Marines was my son I'd be on John Cornyn's desk wanting to know what he was doing to fix this. Those Marines better have all the weapons and ammunition to neutralize the threat, so they can get home safely. PERIOD..........

I was just a young man, back in '79 when the "Students" took over our Embassy in Tehran. That should never happen again. Better to be able to come home walking than in a box. Or the way ISIS is at all.

Good post, SGT Francis Wright. Thanks for sharing the quote from Marcus Luttrell. I agree, but if the rules of engagement constrain those Marines and cause loss of life or (worse, almost) the taking of Marines as hostages, then somebody should answer for it. Whoever put those shackles on.
I also agree with you regarding equipment. They better have everything they need at their disposal. I read a quote from a military expert that the number of ISIS fighters required to take the air base are not there, and if they could be assembled, they would be a prime target for air strikes. I personally would like to see something like that go down: wiping out a good swath of these ISIS murderers with U.S. and coalition air power.

I know Chief, but I bet the Marines at the US Embassy in Tehran back in '79 did more. 444 Days held hostage by the "Students".
