CPT Private RallyPoint Member537035

I am a current an infantry 1LT(P) in the Arkansas National Guard and about to start law school this August. My 6-year obligation to the Guard ends in the middle of my time at law school, and I would so much rather be able to jump onto an active duty branch as a JAG (currently in the Army Guard but don't care if I need to switch to another service branch IOT do it full time). Is there anyone out there who can assist me in figuring out how to do this? I originally thought I could just quietly leave the Guard and then join AD with no problem and all the time in service, rank, etc intact. A friend of mine said that he thinks I would need to resign my commission IOT leave the Guard and then is unsure if a commission can be retaken or a new one given upon joining AD.

If anyone here is/was or knows a branch manager or anyone else who can help me, I would appreciate it. I am also going to talk to my BC about it, but any extra guidance is appreciated.

Thanks to anyone who can help.Going to law school and want to switch from National Guard (11A) to Active Component as a JAG afterwards2015-03-18T15:00:32-04:00CPT Private RallyPoint Member537035

I am a current an infantry 1LT(P) in the Arkansas National Guard and about to start law school this August.
