Apocalypse Now was totally inaccurate but it depicted the insanity of war better than any film I've ever seen. However, there is one film, little noticed or remarked upon (so far as I know) that was very endearing to me: Don't Cry, It's Only Thunder. And no, I do not have issues with it and the movie was very entertaining. First off, it was based on some actual events that took place in 1965 in Saigon. I wish that it was still on the air when I was in Nam in 69 and 70. He said the only accuracy in that movie was that, yes, he was in Vietnam and, yes, he was a DJ. Everything else was Hollywood. Robin Williams ad-libbed a lot of his lines. He said people would ask him what Williams was like in real life, and he said, that while he met him, he didn't know. Williams was always in character.<br /><br />It was a great movie. It was horrible, terrifying and everything those soldiers went through over there and back home was gastly.
