Got laid off a few months back. Decided to start an MSP business but have absolutely no idea how to market myself. Any ideas?

Are you back in your hometown? If so, post it on Facebook for beginners, and ask your friends to help promote your business to friends. It's a small early start, but it can make a difference.
Any questions that pop into your head, make videos on the solution. Post said videos on your website/youtube to promote your business. Make business cards, wherever you go and hear about people complaining about IT problems, hand them your card. If you go to a small business that has WiFi, look for issues (no passwords, SSID broadcasting, overlapping channels with neighbors) and let them know you could fix it. Don't be stingy and offer your services for free at times (being a helpful neighbor/helping out at a local shop)

Lol. I tried that before. I went to my doc and noticed they weren't hippa compliant so i offered to help. ( WEP, Windows XP, stuff like that) He didn't like that to much. So now I keep my comments to myself.

PO2 (Join to see) - Starting off with no money for now. My target is going to mainly be businesses that want to outsource their IT needs.

SGT (Join to see) - For the most part, I keep quiet on such issues unless I hear the owner of a shop complaining about people next door using their WiFi/slow DL speeds. I would focus on smaller businesses that have WiFi lounges (coffee shops, vape shops, and restaurants). Other business might need assistance once in a rare moon (cleaning hard drive, updating/upgrading) but will rarely have issues with viruses and other over the internet issues. Targeting smaller business really will depend on going door to door handing out business cards and word of mouth. Could you learn Java/PHP/Python? That could also help bring in more business.

If you need any help in the way of sometimes "Free" Advertising. Don't hesitate to ask. I'm on Several Forums and I have a few of my own pages and I have no problem letting folks know about a Veterans Business.

Thank you. I may ask you to do that. I bought the domain already and am re-teaching myself HTML so I can build the website. It's been years since I've had to do any coding.

Offer your services for free for a short period of time. I run a vinyl cutting business on the side and word of mouth gets around FAST. Craigslist is also a GREAT place, Yelp, Google, make a website with a business email, and start doing cold emails!
