To graduate debt free today is quite an achievement. When I was doing college advising, as part of my professorial duties, I advocated “JUST SAY NO” to student loans…do everything you can to stay debt free. Too many times the students took the “free money” and got themselves into the mixer of increasing debt and declining academic performance. Even in retirement, I still think students should do everything possible to avoid the student loans….they don’t go away, even if you decide to get a plumbing apprenticeship!
