I am considering going with the green to gold active duty option but I have just a couple of questions I would like to ask. It is the weekend now so I cannot ask at the moment and my education center does have green to gold information but the dates don't align well with my schedule.

So to start off, I do have 2 years of college left and by the time I could start college I will be 30 years old and will have just over 3 years of time in service. The issues I have is that the college I want to get back into has me as academically expelled, I didn't do well in class during my time there because of stress from my living conditions and financial issues that will no longer be a problem. My overall GPA from all of my college courses is still 2.49 so I'm right on the bubble there without a waiver. How likely would I still be accepted?

I know every person is different however I am certain that I can get a good letter of recommendation from my chain of command. I have never failed an APFT and have never even received a negative counseling. What are your guys thoughts on this? I suppose most of you would just say that it doesn't hurt to try but I just don't want to waste my time if I cannot get in. The college will accept me back since I meet the requirements to register and get approved again.

I wrote a long message but my phone messed up in between so long story short with a 2.49 GPA your chances are pretty slim to none especially with your age considered.

SSG, how long did the process take the second time (minus the waiver)? I've been reviewing the application process and it seems like a lot. My main concern is that I'm currently in my second AIT so even if I start the process when it opens this June, I won't be at my next duty station until next January so I'm not sure my current chain of command could or would sign off even though it wouldn't be until the 2020-2021 school year. And I'd rather not wait another two years for the 2021-2022 school year if I get accepted. Thank you for any info

SGT (Join to see) the waivers is what took a really long time, they do the process in 2 phases, so first a board looks at your packet and if you get approved you move on to the 2nd phase. The 2nd phase is for people requiring waivers, so I'd you dont need any then that means that you pretty much are good to get in to the program. I was kind of in your situation when u got accepted. I pcsed midway through putting my packet together and had to go through a new chain of command that made it a little difficult to get signatures. But bottom line if you have a chain of command that is trying to prevent you from furthering your career then I would ask to speak to someone higher in your command. This is your career so dont let anyone try to stop you from achieving better.

SGT (Join to see) sorry for the misspelling I am on my phone. But I meant "so if you don't require"* and "situation when I got accepted"*

You might well find the forum pages Jere of interest, it's not all inclusive, it doesn't cover Army WOCS or the direct commission indoc OIS programs, and also leaves out ROTCs, USPHS COSTEP, and USMC PLC, however, it does cover the five main svc OCS programs, though it does leave out the state run ARNG OCS programs, which could be another route for you, as well....
