Dads thing was never hit or degrade a women and that stuck with me.
Moms thing was do your best and never give up and that stuck with me.

My Grandfather always told me, "can't never did nothing". For some reason, this has stuck with me through all of these years. Simple but true.

From my Mother: Women are to be respected and treated with dignity. They are not put on the planet for your pleasure.

From my Father: Be a man. If you mess up, own up to it and take the lickings. Don't let anyone tear you down. Stand up for yourself and others.

1. I brought you here, I'll be the one to take you out.
2. You want something to cry for?
3. Don't let your mouth or attitude make a debt your ass can't cash.
4. No matter how old you get, no matter where you are, I'm STILL your mom.
5. Have your behind IN the house BEFORE the streetlights come on. If you're out and their on, you'll be "on" when you come in.
6. For my two deployments, mom said "Make sure you come home the SAME way you left".
7. There is a posted speed limit for a reason, USE IT. I'm STILL getting this one to this day.

1: If you get arrested, do not call us for bond money, as it will not be coming.
2: You can in fact be guilty by association-meaning if you pick idiots as friends....
3: Nothing in life is free, you have to earn the things you want
4: You cannot "be anything you want" but you can identify and work on the things you are good at and achieve success.
5: Life isn't fair, but life is good.

My folks were good, hard working immigrant descendants. We never had much growing up, so we valued what we had. I try to return the favor by teaching my child solid values. Hope it pays off....
