GS pay vs Military pay

Just doing random research, found an article describing an E-7 qualifies at the GS 6 pay level job. Who came up with this? Just doesn't make sense altogether on so many levels. What is your thought on this?

You are right, everyone I work with is GS-12 or GS-13 and we all do the same thing. I dont get how they match the levels.

Here is the army's Order of Precedence for protocol.

You will note that a GS7 is equal to an O1.

A few things to consider:

1. The salary of a GS employee does not include BAH. There is a locality adjustment, however, that varies depending on the location.
2. Much like SFC Smith stated, when applying for a federal position, your experience and education will allow you to apply for a higher grade.

Since you're in the DC area, I recommend calling Henderson Hall and attend their Cracking the Code Workshop; it's offered monthly. That workshop is pretty informative on the federal hiring process and developing your application package. You can inbox me for more information.

I know this is 3 yrs old but for anyone looking at this while looking for employment: I wouldn’t put too much stock in the protocol list. Base your search for employment at a GS scale on experience. There is absolutely no reason why an SFC shouldn’t be targeting positions at the GS 10 -12. The really high speed guys can look at 13s with relative success, especially MI.
