Hacksaw Ridge is the extraordinary true story of Desmond Doss who, in Okinawa during the bloodiest battle of WWII, saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun. In theaters November 4th, watch the trailer here: http://rly.pt/WatchHacksawRidgeTrailer

Holy cow, that movie looks phenomenal. My aunt is a combat medic and she was one of the fueling reasons that I joined the Army. I'm pursuing a medical degree also due in part to her.

First, I can hardly wait to see this. I was/am a Combat Medic. I love everything about being one and working in healthcare. I really like working trauma/emergency/disaster settings. No, I'm not hoping people get hurt so I can 'work', but I want to be there when these things happen.

After separation as an HM2 from my MARINES, I worked in a hospital ER (civilian), then ICU, then OR and finally as a police officer. Trust me when I say those feelings NEVER go away for those of us truly called!

This might sound biased, but being called to the medical profession is one of the greatest things one can achieve. We'll all need 'them' at some point. From our first sounds to our last; sometimes earlier than it should. Even in non life threatening situations, taking care of others should have no boundaries or limits.
I'd choose being Doc every time regardless of branch or career path. If you've ever been in a serious accident or had a severe illness requiring immediate hospitalization then you know. If the world knew this then it would be much better off.
