Has anyone attended the Joint Firepower Course (JFC) and earned the ASI 5U?

The resident Course is put on at Nellis AFB. I'm interested in broadening my scope of knowledge into the realm of joint operations. I've not found much information online, and ATRRS is vague, so first hand knowledge of the course would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We had a MTT Course that came to Ft. Wainwright. If you have a JFO background, it will help out in regards to a lot of the information taught. The most challenging portion for most students is usually the fill in the blank TACS/AAGS portion. The test was challenging but definitely passable as long as you study.

They came to us as an MTT, going to the course always seemed problematic, but I've been retired a few years.

We had a MTT I Hawaii. If you have completed SEJPME (JKO) will help you understand a little more of what's going to be covered in the class. I have a couple of workbooks that I can email you. Let me know if you want them it will make it a lot easier.

As a 13b it really doesn’t benefit you in all honesty. It’s definitely more a 13F course. JFC is for pretty much Bn level operations where you interact with joint agencies. As a SFC , JOFEC should be the course for the level of agencies you should be working with in a joint realm. JFC is really a quick firehouse course that’s just an intro. JOFEC and other courses go into all the agencies responsibilities and functions in depth.

I went in 2015 it was an intense class and well worth it.

Any Joint course is more "salad" to add your qualifications...especially if you are looking at a future assignment to a CCMD or ASCC...I have completed the JOFEC at Ft. Sill, Soldiers that have taken JFC say it is can excellent course.

SFC White, Go if you can. I just attended the Dec 2018 class. Great joint fires (and joint targeting overview) for the Army. It will help set you up you for a Corps, Army Service Component, or higher headquarters JFE position.

And an additional SI never hurts a promotion packet...

MCTP is hosting the Joint Firepower Course (ASI 5U) here at Fort Leavenworth from 11-21 March. A MTT is coming from Nelis. If interested, send me an email for more information and docs. Names need to be submitted NLT 8 Feb. Units pay for TDY and RC units need to also cut the P&A orders. Excellent opportunity.
