Has anyone dealt with immigrating a spouse from a foreign country?

I had a soldier try to marry a Phillipine woman and Italy required that she proved her and her families financial worth and job history to simply allow her to visit. Even if the soldier married her, he had to go through the states first and attain US citizenship before avoiding that requirement. Things may have changed and the circumstances may have been slightly different but I recall sending him to JAG for cousel.

You need to file an I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, and then they have to file for a green card (I-485).

What country is your prospective spouse from, and where are the two of you physically located right now?

Stationed in Okinawa, married a Japanese female and bought her stateside. Cost close to 8k, took about 10 months, and had a ridiculous amount of paperwork to fill out. Give me a shout if you need assistance, if I can help, I will.
