I went to BLC in august last year at Camp Ball, LA and its a few things that can you make you fail. You will present classes and training classes alike.

If you have a good NCO they will make sure you are prepared and can execute the tasks before going inorder to set you up for success.

Feel free to contact me if you need more specifics or questions always happy to answer questions. The guy could barely spell his own name and I have no idea how he managed to get the minimum score on the ASVAB. Without a doubt one of the dumbest individuals I've ever seen in the Army. I basically held his hand and walked him through every assignment and tutored him before every test. He managed to pass with the minimum score though I'm pretty sure they fudged a little because he was such a nice guy and actually excelled in every other area. He was just dumb as a rock. Too many people attend an NCOES thinking that it will be a walk in the park and the reality does not kick in until they are face to face with the first exam. You should not worry about failing. Once an individual has mentally defeated themselves they will never see success. You need to have the mindset that you will do well on all given tests/tasks. Much success in school. Best advice I can say is doing prt the correct way if you don’t have everything exactly perfect you’ll get a no go. knife hands, correct location, draws.. the correct commands, knowing the prep, recovery, mmd1&2, and hsd’s. Use acronyms to help you remember. Read fm 7-22. Look up the ar for writing format as you’ll be writing lots of essays. Get comfortable if your not already with public speaking. Practice is key. We only have 5-6 people fail out of my class. Our instructors were strict but standards are standards. Good luck. For example, fail drill and ceremony twice and your dropped from the course, fail drill and ceremony once and PRT once then your still in the course but have no more re-do’s. Take it seriously and don’t over think it and you’ll be ok. Doesn’t hurt to study from their website before you go though. Later in my Career I have seen less folks sent packing. To get removed from a source these days is sometimes a death knell to ones career. Units should only those that are prepared to attend professional development as it reflect very badly on the chain of command to send duds and waste slots and budget money. Schooling became steadily more concerned with standards, HT/WT in the 90's and I have seen Soldiers sent packing at in processing for being fat bodies that busted tape and BF % in addition to scoring poorly on entrance APFT's when they came with study numbers from their units. I would be hard pressed to remember sending a brain dead attendee to any school. But I suppose it can happen that a good troop has a major brain fart at BLC and fails to make the school standards. I wouldn't want to be someone who screws up like that these days as it would mean at best a long wait and harder screening for any future slots at worst a dead end in progression and a bar to re-enlistment.
