Are you meaning that a Soldier hit RCP, was separated from AD...went to Reserve (or Guard) but picked up SSG and now want to go back AD after getting promoted?

So what I have read ,was if a Service member was RCP’d the service member has an option to receive a Half Separation pay or Full Seperation pay. In order to receive a Full Seperation pay the service member has serve 3 years in the Reserve or Guard to collect the pay . My question really is , what if I was to go the Full Sep pay and within those 3 years or so I end getting promoted , I know I have pay my full Separation back because I’d be eligible for retirement , so if I wanted could I end up returning back active in that scenario, it’s really vague on that notion so I was just wondering .

SGT (Join to see) the problem you'd face is grade determination. Rarely....if ever....have I seen a SSG go reserve to active and keep rank. Hell, it's rare for a SGT to keep rank when switching to active

RCP for Sgt promotable is 14 years. For all practical purposes Sergeants must either leave the Army at 14 years, or get promoted to staff sergeant. As for going back AD probably need to contact a recruiter.

RCPs apply to:
Soldiers serving in the Regular Army,
Soldiers of the U.S. Army Reserve, and
Army National Guard Soldiers serving under the Active Guard Reserve (AGR) Title 10

RCPs do not apply to:
Soldiers serving in the USAR or ARNGUS who are mobilized or assigned to the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) or a Troop Program Unit (TPU)
