I drank that kool-ade too. You can expect to attend 11x OSUT and most likely pick up around week 5. Authority and responsibility levels are skewed by 1 rank between the Corps and the Army.

Do yourself a favor and don’t be “that guy.” By that I mean the Marine that takes every other breath to compare what you’re doing now to “back in the Marines” because things are different. Everyone knows.

I’ve had duds and I’ve had studs that were Marines first. An EGA won’t exempt you from things and in some cases may have your leadership demanding more from you. Especially if they knew where you came from, because I did from all my prior Marines.

Hope this helps.

Semper Fi! As SGT Braswell and I mentioned, the vernacular is decidedly different than what you have been accustomed to.

No more go fasters, moon beams, ink sticks, boots and utes, glow worms, etc.

You will use phrases that will get sideways looks.

Marching manual is different in command and name though the movements remain the same.

In all, I enjoyed my time as a Soldier as much as I did as a Marine. I still celebrate the Birthday, and have been to several Birthday Balls as a Soldier. The Army doesn’t do the organizational pride in the same way the Marine Coprs does. It usually boils down to Unit pride, which I felt was sad.
