I've recently met a younger soldier who deploy in the past couple of years to Africa and be has a C.I.B from it. Im not doubting that he be wearing it, just never heard of people getting any combat badges from Africa deployments during GWOT. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this or even gotten any xombat badges from their Africa deployment?

There were some countries we went into while in Africa to do exfils of embassies that had wars going on outside of them so its not unheard of.

Hell, I got a patch from my Africa deployment

To be awarded the CIB Personnel Eligible:
For award of the CIB a Soldier must meet the following three requirements:
(1) Be an infantryman satisfactorily performing infantry duties.
(2) Assigned to an infantry unit during such time as the unit is engaged in active ground combat.
(3) Actively participate in such ground combat.
.
I know of 3 or 4 soldiers authorized to wear the CAB for action in Africa. They were't Infantry though, but I'm certain there have been a few CIBs rewarded.
The Combat Action Badge (CAB) is a United States military award given to soldiers of the U.S. Army of any rank and who are not members of an infantry or special forces unit, for being "present and actively engaging or being engaged by the enemy, and performing satisfactorily in accordance with prescribed rules of engagement" at any point in time after 18 September 2001.
