Has anyone heard of TopResume.com? Is it worth the cost to have them work on your resume?

https://www.topresume.com/ I tried a free review and they said it is one of a do-er, not an achiever. I know it's about wording, but I really don't the ability to put a spin on details. I am a straight to the point person. However I am in need of finding entry level work in IT and have the certs to back it up. Can anyone actually recommend them as a service that's worth the cost? My resume is applied to my profile, if anyone wants to offer advice, not sure if it can be accessed.

There are too many resume assistance services out there that are free, especially for vets or people transitioning. Don't waste money paying someone for resume writing help. It's akin to throwing money down the drain.

PO2 Michael Henry As mentioned, do not pay anyone to work on your resume. Who says that the format they use will appeal to employers? Join LinkedIn. Once a member, join the LinkedIn group, "Veteran Mentor Network." You can ask the group to review your resume or ask for assistance with anything else that you need.

Don't really agree. First, you need to determine how much you are worth? What hourly wage are you looking for? Once you identify the hourly salary of the job you want, then calculate how much time you've already spent on your resume and add the time you are about to spend. Once you complete the drill, then calculate how much you would have spent on a resume writer compared to your annual salary if you get the job...then ask yourself was the fee worth it.

I used a resume service for my first one because I thought I was in a rush. Paid a lot of money for a company to copy my OERs and paste them into a 3 page resume filled with acronyms and military jargon. Pretty much everything you don't want in a resume. After not getting that job, I rewrote my resume about 150 times and finally got the job I wanted. What I paid for and what I have now are no where close to being the same and I would be embarrassed to use the professionally written one. I don't remember the company but it was highly recommended at the time. I wouldn't spend the money again but the experience in writing my own resume is priceless.

Michael, some thoughts on this subject.
1) I know some in this thread have so don't do it. That is a decision you need to make and don't let others thoughts persuade you. Resume writing is no different than everything else you do in life. You get what you pay for. There are some amazing organizations that provide free top notch Resume services, just make sure you research all of them.
2) I have never heard of TopResume.com but from a quick search, they seem to provide a package to help with work. Checking reviews will be important but I can tell you that the cost associated (even if you go somewhere else) for their services is not that bad. Just connect with other users of the site to ensure they liked the service. Do more searching, but this came up: https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/http://www.topresume.com
3) If you need anything, please let me know. Networking is one of the most important things you will do from this point forward. Spend time doing exactly what you have done here! Let me know if I can help at all.

If you are interested in working for the Feds, the USAjobs.gov web site used to have a resume builder (haven't been there in years). Even if you're not interested in a federal job, try the program. It's a good training tool.

As a side note, I would research IT recruiters (not paid by you). The good ones can open doors.

If you have IT certs and are looking for entry level work, simply post out on careerbuilder or monster and start getting calls. Agree with the IT recruiter comment. Just need to plug in with one, look me up on LinkedIn, I know lots of them. Biggest issue I've seen both as a recruiter and now as an IT project manager is get rid of all militarese. All of it. Talk business language. Lots of people pay lip-service to hiring vets and offering services to transition vets. I think it's good PR, but doesn't always go the distance.
