I was in the Army from 1985 til 2008. The first time I ever heard that phrase was this weekend watching a football game on TV.

Travis, that was what I was thinking when I saw the TV ad and especially when I went to the website. All they wanted was for me to contribute money so they could help military people.

OK, so it seems to be an Air Force saying.

This saying originated from World War II fighter Pilots and their wingmen.  It refers to the 6:00 O'Clock position behind an aircraft.  where the Wingman can cover from attack from behind.  Thus. I've Got your 6 O'Clock (or Rear) covered.
