Has anyone here been through the process of being released from the National Guard to go Active Duty?

I'm getting released from National Guard to go Active Duty wanted to know how long is the process? I'm now awaiting to hear back from the Colonel at state.

I started to and got done on the national guard end. It was pretty easy. All I did was tell my unit what my intentions were. I think I may have had to write a statement of intent. Then I had to turn in all my gear. Once I had cleared supply it was only a matter of a couple weeks until I got my conditional release.

I did it from going Reserves to Active Duty.

I was in the NG working full-time for nine months until my position was abolished. So I just returned to AD.

If you do end up doing it expect to be treated worse than the poo on the bottom of someone's shoe. AD still hangs on dearly to that "Nasty Girl", beer and cards stereotype.

How do you switch from National Guard to active duty ? | RallyPoint

I am a newly commissioned and am currently at BOLC. When I was in ROTC I chose to commission in the national guard even though i scored high enough for an active duty. Since I have been at BOLC I have changed my mind and want to switch to active duty. How do I make the switch and what criteria do they use to select officers who want to change? What are my chances of being selected?

I did back in the early 90's, it took getting the state IG involved for my guard unit to release me. Other than that your active duty recruiter does all the work.

I tried once, the approved release came quick but the problem was with Active Duty as they stopped taking Prior Service at that time. I ended up transferring to reserves.
