Great question. The other phenomenon that I wonder about is “ third man phenomenon”. People experience a strong sensation of another being guiding them during harrowing experiences. There is a sense of loss when the being leaves.

I have seen these on many old Episodes of Unsolved mysteries but it was not combat related but still related to what you're talking about. I believe these Episodes are on Amazon, prime or Netflix. And you can look at all the old ones with Robert Stack and others.

Yes I did. I died in Hue, RVN in the summer of 1970. We were moving a crane to the coast, through Hue. I was electrocuted. I can tell you now, It was the most wonderful event of my life. I don't know of any words that can describe the feelings and sights. I didn't want to come back, but after a while a deep voice told me it was not my time. (By the way I didn’t hear that message with my ears. It was different. I kind of heard it with my mind. Word can’t express it.) And just like that I was back in Hue. While I say this now, I didn't believe it then. I couldn’t believe God would send me back. I was a nobody. Better, more important people had died. I felt there must be some other explanation as to what happened. I didn’t tell anybody for years. It was a day of close calls for me. From there in Hue, to Tam My, to Dong Ha it was one close call after another. While I say I didn’t believe it, a little part of me thought, if it is not my time; can anything stop me now. I did know we had to get out of there, a crowd was gathering and that was dangerous. The thoughts that go though your mind.
I look forward to dying now. It is a GOOD thing. I think a lot of people don’t believe me. I wish I knew how to make everyone believe.

Having been in pain for 40 years due to service connected injuries there was a moment when there was no pain. None. There for a minute I thought I had died but the pain returned to let me know I was still alive.
