If you do walk away (Which I would discourage), make sure you can stay in TPU-Land. Gotta get that 20 year letter.... Unless you have an equivalent or better civilian job lined up. Your current assignment is temporary, state side tour length is 3-5 years on station. I know that your initial assignment can be a bit of a culture shock AGR is not like Regular Army or traditional Army Reserve. We are the problem solvers and often we're thrown into the fray without any support and have to make order from chaos. The way forward is to do it for the Soldiers, protect them from toxic and ineffective command teams, get them trained, and make something from nothing. I will state that over the years I have met some really good soldiers in the program but there are also a number of less than outstanding ones. I think you also have to seriously consider all the benefits you will be leaving behind even if you become a TPU soldier. A 4187 through your OFTS to your PMO should make it happen.
