Has anyone on here joined the Army under the loan repayment program and had 100% of their student loans paid off?

What most people don't account for is that the loan repayment is taxable income. The federal government is required to withhold part of the payment for taxes. So, even if you have a $30k loan and signed up for a $30k loan repayment, you'll actually receive $30k-taxes.

Yep. Still I can’t complain because when I was signing up previously they weren’t giving me anything

I did not, but MBA classmate was a Navy veteran who did. She enlisted with undergraduate degree (and student loans). During her six year term, her first three years paid off debt and second three provided GI Bill eligibility for business school.

I enlisted with student loans in 2010 and the Army paid a substantial amount, but I still have a $10,000 balance and am now trying to see where to start the uphill battle of finding out why the whole thing wasn’t paid in full.

They take taxes out of the amount too. That will greatly reduce what you receive. SGT (Join to see)

Off top of head, a few reasons for lingering amount...
1. Interest accrued
2. Taxes mentioned by previous poster
3. Loan type (Subsidized loans are eligible, certain others are not)
I advise you review enlistment contract, talk to education counselor or make appointment with JAG.

Thanks, the taxes and accrued interest makes a lot of sense, I think that could be what I’m paying. Thanks for your input. LTC Eugene Chu

No, but had them dismissed after service for service connected disabilities.
