I am on assignment to Germany and my colleague stated that when he was on assignment to Germany, they cancelled it and kept him stateside because he had a family member on EFMP. Could anyone with recent experience tell me about their situation? Respectfully, given the situation I’m in, I would like up to date information. Thank you all!

It just depends on what the EFMP is for and what services can be provided at your specific location during the time you are there. If your family member was already enrolled in EFMP then it was determined that services will be available for that member during your time there.

Sadly not the case. We are in the process now of getting the paperwork submitted. So the Army would not have known and therefore not checked beforehand.

SSG Clint Underhill in that case, it just depends on your location, the issue, and the services available. I can tell you that if it's an educational EFMP like autism then it's usually approved and if it's history of depression it's usually disapproved for Alaska and Germany.

It ultimately depends on the needs of your dependent if the EFMP is approved. I have yet to try or get orders to go overseas but I doubt I would since my daughter's EFMP is medical and probably wouldn't go there. In fact - I got denied to go to Hood twice because of her EFMP - even after I updated it when she had her transplant. They said they couldn't provide the services she needed. It was strange since there's Houston or SA and a transplant center right outside base. I probably dodged a bullet (literally) though.

I also got denied by Stewart, Huachuca (not surprised) and another one I can't remember.
