Has anyone else been charged sales tax and went through a process to get their money back? Has anyone who lives in Tennessee not paid taxes on a new /used vehicle? 2018-06-07T18:01:37-04:00 WO1 Private RallyPoint Member 3693036 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I was told today by the registrars office while registering my car that I should not have paid sales tax on my car when purchasing it. I would give them a call. I&#39;ve bought and sold vehicles of every type in TN from trucks to trailers and even a boat, I paid sales tax on everything an not once did the county clerk say I shouldn&#39;t have. I&#39;d be interested to hear more details, is TN your state of residence, if not where is? Was it new or used? Also TN does not have a state tax so you should not pay state taxes or have any money withdrawn from your paycheck for state. Check with ACS to verify but I can almost guarantee that as a military member you are exempt from tax.
