Has anyone else witnessed this or have experienced this? Any possible solutions? Has anyone witnessed or experienced an NCO be "set back" because of the current NCOES layout i.e ALC CC? 2013-11-08T15:09:23-05:00 MSG Private RallyPoint Member 4667

I have some NCO's that feel they are held back in their career because they completed ALC residents course almost a year ago, and are just now being enrolled in ALC common core. Everyone will either be getting waivers for time restrictions of not having the schools completed or they will be getting pulled from promotion standing lists, I think the latter would be the biggest mistake as you would start losing quality up and coming leadership, but I think the writing is on the wall, it is going to get real ugly for at least the next 3-4 years until the numbers and dollars are where the current administration wants them to be at.

Good luck and have a happy holidays.
Response by SFC James Baber made Dec 19 at 2013 9:56 PM 2013-12-19T21:56:25-05:00 2013-12-19T21:56:25-05:00 SSG Private RallyPoint Member 24233

I'm set to attend ALC next month; what my Operations NCO is telling me....more than likely I won't get enrolled in CC probably well into 2015/16. I don't understand why I would have to wait that long to be awarded completion of this school.

A battle of mines and I already felt the short end of the stick back in October when we drove down to TX from VA for ALC getting there the day before we were to report only to read a sign saying our class was canceled due to the shutdown. If this keeps up, there's no telling how much worse things are going to get.
Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 19 at 2013 10:03 PM 2013-12-19T22:03:04-05:00 2013-12-19T22:03:04-05:00 SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member 107273

SFC Moore,

I feel like I have been set back because of the current ALC CC enrollment. I completed my resident course over a year ago and have not been enrolled into CC yet as well. I have had my S3 and 1SG involved with helping get a seat but still no luck. Out of my class I have had 4 of my classmate already completed it and 3 of them promoted. I out rank 2 of them by TIG but HRC tells me no SGT(P) are being in enrolled because of the backlog. Also I believe this to be crap because other SGT(P) in my unit are being enrolled constantly. Not sure how the OML is working up there but I have really been considering leaving the Army because of this feeling of being held back.
Response by SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 21 at 2014 9:37 AM 2014-04-21T09:37:50-04:00 2014-04-21T09:37:50-04:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 204818

I am having an issue getting enrolled into ALC Common Core, which is delaying my ALC date.... which will result in a delay in promotion. I am going through my second, and final, phase of SLC right now. It took me 5 years to get this course. I did my first phase in 2009 as an E-6. But then again my second phase is only offered 2 times a year with 6 seats for each class, for the entire army national guard and army reserve combined. I recommend getting reservation now (pay attention to the time in service remaining requirements also) regardless of how far out you have to project then start looking for a shortfall afterwards.
