Has the Army ever used hang gliders in airborne or special forces operations?

If you thought it was a stupid question …. why would you answer it ? Specifically, I asked about hang gliders, not WW2 Troop Carriers. Also, history students love primary sources.

No, hang gliders are not very mobile. You've got to carry a bunch of equipment up a mountain and then you have to ditch or carry all that equipment. So now you have two limitations. You need a mountain and hang gliders are not exactly discrete.

You can accomplish the same thing with something in our inventory already. We have HAHO operations, you can be dropped from a high altitude in an ordinary plane and glide under a parachute a good dozen kilometers in something with a smaller radar signature

I remember back when I was a super top secret delta force, navy seal, elite ranger sniper assigned to a ghost ODA that space force started for Bad ass mother fuckers. We used hang gliders to do a vertical insertion on Mars for recon behind enemy alien Taliban country is the hajigoat fucker province. We moved in and killed the HVT using xm-435 electro pulse laser sniper rifle with an ACOG. I shot him in his dick (the worst kind of shot) from 3 miles. I did train Chris Kyle after all! So after that we egressed back to a rally point and then linked up for a Fulton extraction technique using a space shuttle. Sooo that being said. I now have to kill everyone that read this or Jessie Ventura is gonna assassinate me. But for real, I don't believe they've ever used hang gliders in any operation. I don't believe we even have a school for that. In WWII they did use a glider pulled behind bombers. It was used extensively during that time. I do know though, that plenty of 2nd Lt.s have hang glided on the company commanders nuts when it's come to some bullshit inter-unit policy changes that mainly affect the enlisted men. But it's cool though. We're still the best Military in the world.... Except space force, that shit is fuckin rediculous. I wanna go back into the military to join space force, have a drill Sgt talk nice to me and ask me to do push ups. Then after I graduate play video games! That shit would definitely be mid to moderate speed for sure!

Actually Yes the Glider was the begin day of the Airborne. Look on the History Channel and you can find the documentary. I am not sure about modern use of Gliders???
