It's all politics now. NCOs are no longer allowed to be NCOs. We're expected to baby Soldiers, not toughen them. We are no longer allowed to breed Warfighters and we will pay the price in blood.

I had a spc say he would smack me. I was forced to right him up by my leadership, and in turn they made him a cpl. I've only been in 5 years and its changed quite a bit

And that's exactly the problem with the Army today. I would never dream of telling my team leader or squad leader something like that when I was a Private, let alone a SPC.
Soldiers are allowed to do things like this with no repercussions and they see that.

If 9 Generals were fired within several years from the government, and rules of engagement was changed to benefit the enemy to be a bunch of pansies. I would have to concur and say hell yes. The new military has become soft, weak, and the standards have disappeared. The military has become the laughing stock to the whole world and NATO.

The Sergeant's comment is correct. The battle has already been lost when a subordinate of ANY rank feels safe in even thinking such thoughts, much less uttering the words!

The military is not the place for being Politically Correct nor is it a place for social experiments. People in political positions have too much say as to how the military is operated.
I do feel we have a great military and good quality service members. There will always be the usual amount of brown nosing, yes-men and such. That just goes with the beast.
We have a great technical advantage in the military now. One thing we need to do is not forget the human factor and base knowledge. Example: as a 12B I was issued a pocket calculator to do my demo formulas and such, but when I went to take the SQT (old school), I couldn't use it because the thinking was I actually had to know how to do the math in case my calculator failed during a mission. I think we tend to depend too much on electronic tec stuff and not stressing enough gray matter exercise.

"The military is not the place for being Politically Correct nor is it a place for social experiments." Well, apparently it is, Sergeant Major.

Our education system has gone downhill. We recruit from that population. One cannot fish in a lake and hope to catch a camel...

Bingo! And it is in that education system that they are led to believe that they are entitled to something. Generation Butthurt...

Not just in the educational system. Parents at home are told that discipline is abuse. We have raised a generation of weak minded children who are turning into weak minded adults who do not know how to deal with failure and adversity.

SMSgt (Verify To See) - That analogy also holds true for the military, in general, especially under the Obama "administration".
