I've been trying to find a way to be allowed to make use of a VA clinical program, to see if I could be allowed to volunteer to help with clinical research at the main VA hospital by us; have any of you ever actually petitioned VA, per se, for an actual legal exception to policy? I've wanted to try combining that request with seeking to be allowed to use VA voc-rehab for doing volunteer/goodwill stuff, I'd just wondered if any of you had ever actually sought such a legal exception to policy, not a reasonable accommodation under the ADA, which I've been told is an entirely different matter; any thoughts?

I've never done a petition to the VA but I've seen documentaries that have done for medical reasons like allowing medical marijuana. So I know that's nothing like what you are wanting to do but it is worth a shot to try but like everything with the VA I'm sure it will take time. Good luck and I hope it works out.

I'm still waiting on our infinite money also. Lol.. I would also try to get with the head supervisor at your local VA and see if he/she could point you in the right direction. And it probably wouldn't hurt to reach out to your senator. They would love to help so he/she could use that to help when elections come up. It wouldn't hurt to at least call and see what your senator says..

I just got done submitting to all three Congress offices, and did speak with everyone at the VA hospital by us, as well as at the regional ofc, the VARO, in the city near us, and also many of the central ofc (VACO) staff, I assure you...my wife and I are crossing our fingers and toes and praying, please God...and I was serious about the hair transplant (eventually, also please God)....

The Secretary of the VA hosts live Q & A video sessions for VA. this would be type of question you could ask him directly, since he is the maker of policy. I get emails from Va.gov on when these sessions will be held! I'm surprised that Va reps did not tell you this. Good luck!

I did actually speak with one of ther researchers for that...that was most perceptive...I was asked at one point to go up to the VA hospital to speak with one of the researchers there, and still might, I assure you, so believe me, your suggestion most definitely isn't falling on deaf ears...as I'd said, that really was most perceptive, honest....
