What are they afraid or ashamed of? This is their CAUSE. They feel so strongly about it, they're going to cut class and stuff.
The administrators on the other hand, have plenty to worry about of they are inciting the students to strong arm media - especially student media(!) - away.
Not to make light of the issue at the core of the protests themselves, but rather the conduct of the protesters. Being mad doesn't give you the right to be lawless, or immunize you against the consequences of your actions. Remember the Occupy Movement which faded away after Obama was reelected. Expect more of what happened at the University of Missouri because they want to continue to expand the Progressive [extreme liberal] model of government at the Federal level and expand it to the state level where in most cases it has withered.
Thankfully in our nation and others with a long history of freedom, free thinkers will abound.
