Have you ever had a Commander say to you, "Don't tell me about it because I don't want to know"?

I have been in the California and Idaho ARNG good ole boy realm and I have never heard of this but I bet it has been discussed ad nauseum! I did once have a Battalion Commander who married a stripper and made example out of me (relieved for cause but I beat it with a rebuttal letter to the board) and I made CPT. We have 2 kinds of officers. Those who knew what they wanted to be Army Generals from the 8th grade, they were all full of self-confidence and most attended the USMA and those like me who are survivors. I am a survivor!

MAJ David Vermillion - I made my mistakes but this one was BS. I was alone at the CTCP as S1. My S-1 NCO E-7 was in the contonement area at Yakima. My verizon phone did not work as it usually does at Fort Irwin. My S4 in my CTCP did not work there and he had his own Hmmwv. i did not have any staff there. The Bn xo came by and told me to not worry he would speak to the Bn Cmdr. After 2 days of missing the BUB I was canned. I learned but my Bn CMDR liked busting people and he later went to work AGR at Camp Roberts and I heard he did not make O-6.

LTC Charles T Dalbec - Thanks Sir, I am done with phase II of CGSOC and my last phase is 2 weeks in mid July at Fort Dix. My first look below the zone is next year and in the zone in 2018 so I will just be patient. There is talk I need my Advanced Operation's Course (this if for COL) to be competitive but if I take that course, it will have weekly phone conferences that confllict with my civilian job work (10-11 hour days working at UPS) schedule. I hope what I am finishing soon is enough to get me promoted. I will keep you posted, Sir!

LTC Charles T Dalbec - Yes, if I were the Bn Commander, I would get someone to pick up that Stranded S1 daily and call him on the radio to let him know someone is on their way to get them. The Tsun Zu example he ( the jerk BC who fired me) told me of beheading the women to get the rest in line I thought was bizzare and he was making an example out of me when I was unable to get a ride to the daily briefing and nobody cared.

It wasn't a commander; but, when I was mobilized back in November 2001 I had several situations where my prior role as a consultant to the Federal government conflicted with what I was being asked to do as I supported the HQDA G-4 planning and operations division MAJ David Vermillion. At one point I was publicly dressed down for telling a COL that I was concerned that if I did what he told me it would be a conflict of interest. He didn't let me hear the end of that one - except for a brief time when we were both awarded medals on the same day.
I was able to sleep at night because I did my best to stand up for those I was responsible fro and never to do anything which truly violated my conscience.

Haven't heard that but I have cut Officers out of the loop on a variety of situations. "Sir, this is NCO business and does not concern you. Thank you for your support and have a great day."
