I survived the toxic unit with a toxic Commander & CSM, unfortunately, many good people decided to leave the Army well before they should have left.

CSM Michael J. Uhlig Michael, do you think the toxic nature of things are largely overstated as per the actual prevalence of this kind of problem?

SSgt (Join to see), stay in 20 years and you will encounter it at least once. For me so far, twice. Saw it in units I supported, too, but I could insulate my troops and me from it.

Yes sir.
8 for 8, right now. At least it will end soon.
Good God is it awful, and it shows up in everything. Retention. Training. Attendance.
If anybody needs a case study, I can write you a whole lexicon.

1SG (Join to see) , why don't you fix it? A 1st Sgt is not chicken feed.

1stSgt (Join to see) its a whole new can of worms. 1SG (Join to see) has done everything he can, but no one person can fix it, the environment is toxic from the top down, and the bottom up.

It was an echelon above company level, 1stSgt (Join to see). That guy won't listen to anybody - least of all an NCO.
He had the worst command climate survey I have ever seen (so it isn't just my opinion), and shook it off like it was a fluke.
Tenure limits is the answer.

Yes...and the IG was doing an investigation of him during his last week in command. I was the 1st Sgt and he was the worst commander out of nearly two dozen I served under as a shirt.
