Have you ever tried to talk to a new veteran about "the process" but they were too vacous, bitter, and lost to talk to?

I had a poignant dream about it this last night. He was not listening to me and was surviving on instincts. Sometimes folks free fall and they pull themselves out or someone else does. It's a hell of a good feeling to save someone from PTSD. Nothing better.

Yes I have, and like myself I had to go through the steps and phases, heck I still am. Seems about every 4 years I go up reach a peak that I'm doing great, then the bottom falls out and I slide fast to the bottom bounce for about a year, then rise again.

Transition sucks. And it seems like it hits us all in different ways. Depression, Anxiety, etc. One thing that helped me was realizing that there is so much more out there than the military. Enjoy your memories of the past, but focus on making new memories. Try everything you have ever wanted to try, explore new places, write a book, live dangerously.

Maybe you could articulate that to them and it would help them understand that the world doesn't stop with the military.
