I think home care is going to be a major step forward for many vets who just don't want to leave their home to get the care they need. If I could meet with a Rhumatologist to get a refill on my Embril instead of paying for a ride for a 30 second appointment from Palm Harbor to Bay Pines. I usually live in Extra pain because I cannot afford the extra expense to get there and Dr. Fink will not refill without a visit. Can I get an online appointment to get this done? I've had my last two checkups on Telehealth with the doctor I've been for years. Maybe that is the key, meet and relate in person before going remote. For the system to work both sides have to be open to the process and be aware of its limitations. It is a great thing but... There is a problem area of having to exercise [almost] communications protocol - you can speak over each other due to the time delay from the comm system. Also, there is a missing element of being there - certain aspects of non-verbal communication. Absent not having the person on hand - area responsibilities of coverage, practical limits - it is better than nothing.
