It is a commemoration day very similar to the US Veteran's or Memorial Day. I, as many of us, am fortunate to have served alongside Aussie and New Zealand forces both in deployed and in garrison. I was deployed with an Aussie Airman who would guard the Air Frames while we where on the tarmac at taking patients in Iraq. He educated me about ANZAC day and attended the ceremony on base. I read his 3 book Autobiography and a few other biographies pertaining to him. Gallipoli was such a miserable business, ill-conceived and insufficiently supported. (Sorry Winston, but that's how I see it.)
