Have you noticed that postings on hair, if A Marine should continued to be called a Marine gets more responses and postings than post that address furthering your career, obtaining employment after your service, or furthering your education?<div><br></div><div>Just my two cents</div>

I think that is boils down to what the "flavor of the day" is for some folks.  I like to pick and choose what I comment on based on where the conversation can go, what kind of positive effect it can have on the community and if it can help someone out...just to name a few.

It's definitely a shame that some people seem more interesting in making this a military Reddit than having positive discussions about career-focused topics. I understand this is supposed to be a networking tool to help vets get jobs also, but I have yet to see that integrated into the site very well.

I tend to join topics where I can use my experience to further a discussion or where I feel I can make a relevant contribution. Yes sometimes one's sense of humor can over take one's self but sometimes enjoying some light hearted banter about LTs saluting each other or leg hair with fellow SMs and retirees can make your day too.

A lot of times a topic will catch my eye because its more recent or popular so how and when and what order topics appear in could be an issue with what is getting or not getting needed attention.

I've tried to give this some thought, and over time have drawn the conclusion that the threads asking functional questions due receive constructive responses & answers. While there may only be a handful of responses, the comments cover the question thoroughly and gives the individual options to resolve the issue.

I think there are a multitude of members who may read the question, scan the answers and believe they have nothing more to add so leave the thread as it is. This gives the appearance that little is paid attention to yet is not the case.

The attention grabbing threads garner comments galore simply because they peak interest from a wide variety of members, a piling-on so to speak and a somewhat friendly competition attempting to out-do the previous comment. This is unnecessary in the true question threads because once a complete answer has been obtained, there is no reason to pile-on.

It's just my observation.

Posts that require only an emotional response are easier to respond to than posts that actually require thinking and analysis.

SFC,
I think one of strongest (if not the strongest feature) of RallyPoint is the community. The reason there is a mixture of ultra serious and less serious post is because that is what the community promotes. I feel RallyPoint offers individuals a unique environment where they can engage, professionally, with peers and people with similar backgrounds.
There seems to be two sides on RallyPoint:
1. People who want RallyPoint to be completely serious
2. People who want RallyPoint to be a relaxed place to unwind

I think it is important to balance the two.
