It's a classic. It's been a while since I read it, so I think I might re-visit it. They say that change is the only reliable constant, and I think that's usually true, so this book is a good one to have recently read. The principles are timeless, and the way the author presents the story is very clever. MCI had just bought out CompuServe and was in the process of merging with WorldCom. Lots of layoffs were in the works, so our division directors pushed this down as mandatory reading for mid-level managers and encouraged us to share its principles with our subordinates.

It's just as relevant today as it was then. It's a quick, fun read that I'd recommend for everyone. Process improvement class was for GS13/O-4/E-7 and above. We had about 15 people in the class. The book was short enough we could actually expect the participants to read it as "homework." Most of them did. We had great discussions about change, fear of change, embracing change, etc. Later found out our Deputy Commander had read the book and was very pleased we used it.

Overall it's well worth the time needed to read the book.
