Have you read Umberto Eco's "Eternal Fascism"?

I recently re-read this essay and, while I take no position on whether it correctly defines "fascism"it, I though that a few RP members might find it interesting.

Do you see anything that applies to any country, if so, what and what country?

Do you see any similarities to the political situation today, if so, what are they and what can be done about them?

Are there any differences from the political situation today, if so, what can be done to strengthen them?

In my opinion, there are many (and strong) similarities between the points set out in the essay and the ISISites' "doctrine".
